Abraham Lincoln Shuler, age 75 of Caledonia went to be with the Lord on Tuesday April 17th, 2012 at Marion General Hospital. He was born February 12th, 1937 in Ashley as the son the late Geoffery Dale & Lucy (Dennis) Shuler. He was given his name by Dr. Davis of Ashley because he was born on the 16th President's Birthday. He lived up to being called "Honest Abe". Never taking and always giving. After completing his junior year in high school Abe joined the U. S. Army to serve his country. Upon returning home he worked at H.P.M. in Mt. Gilead for several years, then started at Tecumseh Products in Marion and Glenwood Range in Delaware . Abe was well known for being a great fisherman. He would rather fish than eat any day. He fished many different fishing circuits in Ohio and surrounding states. While working at Tecumseh he met and became great friends with another fisherman, Ray Grogg. Thet fished together for 45 years. They were responsible for forming Bassmasters of Marion, Ohio. Lois always said; "Fishing was his first Love." Abe was a former member of Oliver Lodge #447 F&AM and I.O.O.F. Lodge #299 of Caledonia. On November 23rd, 1963 he married Lois (Beveridge) Shuler in Cllintwood VA. And she survives him at home. He was the proud father of Lisa (Joe) Fryman of Richwood amd Lorri (Tyl) Ritter of Caledonia. He'll long be remembered by his grandchildren Clay and Alex Traxler of Richwood and Alexis Ritter of Caledonia. He also leaves behind his brother George ( Betty) Shuler of Pence Springs, WV. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Sears and Ella Smith. One brother,. Richard Shuler. Funeral Services for Abe will be held Monday morning April 23rd at 11:00 in the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia with Pastor Doug Ford officiating. Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery with Military honors being provided by the Marion County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday where the Shuler Family will receive them from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8. A Odd Fellows Ritual will be provided by I.O.O.F. Lodge 299 at 4:00.
