Betty Jane Mayer, age 84 of Caledonia, passed away Sunday night September 14th, 2008 in Community Healthcare Center, Marion. Betty was born April 10, 1924, in Marion County the daughter of the late Hollis Hipsher & Zelma (Swisher) Hill. Betty was a 1942 graduate of Caledonia High School, Over the years Betty had been employed at the Caledonia Farm & Lumber Company, Todco of Marion and lastly by Insta-Gro International of Caledonia. She was a faithful member of the Caledonia Memorial United Methodist Church where she had served in many different capacities. Her favorite past-time has been Bowling for many years. She was a member of the Ohio Women's Bowling Association since 1970 and the Marion U.S.B.C. Women's Bowling Association. In her later years Betty had been a care-giver to many of her relatives and friends. In 1946 Betty was married to Darold Jerew. He preceded her in death in 1966. In 1968 she married Robert Mayer. He preceded her in 1998. She is survived by a step-son Donald Jerew of Florida. She is also survived by her two brothers and their wives Robert & Phyllis Hill of Marion and Dwight & Gretchen Hill of Caledonia. She was also preceded in death by her step-father Thomas Hill. Funeral Services for Betty J. Mayer will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday September 18th in the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia with Pastor Randy Kiel officiating. Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia on Wednesday from 6 - 9.
