Dale Marion Long, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 21, 2026, at the age of 92 with his daughter by his side. Born on June 30, 1933, as the son of the late Clarence and Opal (Daugherty) Long. Dale lived most of his life in Knox and Morrow county. Dale spent most of his working life in the factory and construction setting. Most notably Cooperbestmer in Mt. Vernon and HPM in Mt. Gilead. Dale married Lillie Price in 1986 and she preceded him in death September 28, 2021.
Dale was known for his unwavering commitment to his community and family. He was a proud member of the Fresh Faith Community Church, where he found joy and fellowship. His service extended beyond the church, as he was also an auxiliary member of the American Legion Posts #81 and #401, the VFW #8054, and the National Sons of AMVETS. Additionally, Dale was an engaged member of the Galion Senior Center, where he shared many cherished moments with friends.
Throughout his life, Dale maintained a diverse range of interests and hobbies that brought him much joy. He loved playing golf and cards, Dale and Lillie loved playing golf at Crystal Lake, Valley View and New Winchester. Lillie and Dale did everything together. They enjoyed watching the deer come up to their property and eat the grape arbors. Gardening and woodworking were among his favorite pastimes, as was cooking out, which provided him the perfect opportunity to share delicious meals with loved ones. As he grew older, Dale discovered the calming joy of coloring, adding a splash of creativity to his days.
Dale is survived by his daughter, Opal Long Pope and son, Kenneth William Long. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Andrew, Nathan, Kate, and Jordan, and reveled in the joy of being a great-grandfather to Zoie. Dale is also survived by his first wife Arilla Cotton, furkids, Raleigh and Calc as well as many nieces and nephews. Each of these relationships was a source of pride and happiness for him, as he dedicated his life to nurturing and supporting his family.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, including brothers Jack Lee Long and Bill William Long, sisters Helen Long and Marcie Long and brother-in-law Lowell "Banty" Price
Dale's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. He will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the joyous spirit he brought into every room. His memory will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no services observed.
