Donald C. "Porky" Landes age 76 of Caledonia, died peacefully on Monday March 1st 2021, following a three year illness. On November 20, 1944, Donald was born in Marion, Ohio, the youngest of four children of the late Robert and (Virginia) Katherine (Sartin) Landes. He had been an active member of the Caledonia Volunteer Fire Dept. Donald worked at Clark Metal Products for 32 years in the maintenance department. After retiring, he drove bus for Head Start (he dearly loved those little kids), and security at Marion Industrial Center. In his free time he loved hunting, trap shooting, catching walleye at Lake Erie, and keeping vehicles clean. He was a member of the Caledonia Gun Club and he really enjoyed his time breaking clays with the other members. Don never met a stranger. He loved to talk to people, easily made friends, and relished nothing more than sitting around a table at the Camouflage Café. Don was deeply dedicated to the Caledonia Masonic Lodge #447 F&AM and was a 45 year member. He was also member of the Scottish Rite. He was of the Baptist faith. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia J. Bowers, (Gerald) and his brother Michael R. (Jean Ann) Landes . Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon (Vance) Landes, his son, Kevin V. (Kathy) Landes, 8 nieces and nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews and 3 great great nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 1-2 on Friday, March 5th at the Timson & Melroy Funeral Home. Masonic Service and Funeral Service will follow at 2 P.M. with Chaplain Chris Plough officiating.
