Dorothy Marie Chappell, age 90 of Canaan Township passed away Friday evening September 3rd , 2010 at Woodside Village in Mt. Gilead. Dorothy was born December 28th, 1919 the daughter of the late Leon and Gladys (Huntsman) Burrey. On April 22nd, 1939 she married Louis C. Chappell in Marion. He preceded her in death April 23rd, 1996. In her early years Dorothy was employed at the Sawyer Sanitarium in Marion. Later she employed as a cook at River Valley Junior High School. Dorothy was a faithful member of Marion - Salem United Methodist Church and Vera Chapter #64 Order of the Eastern Star in Caledonia. Dorothy and Louis traveled extensively through out the United States and Canada and she always looked forward to her yearly return to Florida for the winter months. Dorothy leaves her two sons and daughter-in-law behind to cherish her memory; Robert & Eileen Chappell of Cardington and Gary and Rosemary Chappell of Custer, South Dakota. Dorothy lost her daughter Bonnie Miglore in 2001. She is survived by her grandchildren; Shaun & Nikki Miglore, Jamie & Dan Serna, Krista & Andrew Betti, Wendy & Tom Kenney, Robby & Grace Chappell, Kim & Joel Clever, Melissa & Dan Bordeaux, Stephen & Jean Chappell. Thirteen Great Grandchildren. Her Brother Leon Burrey of Roanoke, Indiana and sister Arlene Henry of Indian Lake. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M Saturday September 11th, 2010 in Marion - Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. James Van Meter and Rev. Jared Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the Timson Allen & Melroy on Friday evening from 6 - 9. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Marion Salem United Methodist Church.
