George Ray

George L. Ray age 73, formerly of Caledonia, passed away Sunday morning August 10th in the Sterling House of Marion where he was a resident. George was born December 2nd, 1934 near Caledonia, the son of the late Clarence L and Mary Elizabeth (Steele) Ray. He was the grandson of George and Lillian Steele. He was graduate of Chesterville, High School, but resided the majority of his life in Caledonia. He was a U.S. Army veteran, he was employed at North Electric in Galion for almost 20 years and was a Correction Officer at Marion Correctional Facility for 18 years. He was a member of Caledonia American Legion Post 401. George was a fanatical fan of the Cleveland Indians and an avid Brown's fan. George is survived by his two children and their spouses, Jackie & James Creamer of Huber Heights and Thad & Barbara Ray of Raymond. He is also survived by his two brothers; Richard Ray of Caledonia and Robert Ray of Marion. Two step-Grandchildren; Jamie & Robert Creamer. He was preceded in death by his brother James. Funeral Services for George Ray will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday morning August 13th, 2008 at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia with Kenneth Boswell officiating. Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 - 8. Memorial Contributions may be made to The River Valley Baseball for Youth Program.
