George Elmer Valentine

George Elmer Valentine, age 71 of Caledonia, passed away Saturday, March 11th, 2023 at Woodside Village Care in Mt. Gilead Ohio. George was born April 27th, 1951 in Marion, Ohio as the son of  Charles and Donna Mae (Johnson) Valentine. Charles preceded him in death September 27, 2012. George was a 1969 graduate of River Valley High School. He married Pamela Middleton May 10th, 1978 in Marion, Ohio and she survives him at home. George worked for the Erie Lackawanna/Conrail railroad as a welder for over 26 years. George was a member of  the Moose Lodge #303 in Galion and the Lee St. Presbyterian Church in Marion. In his younger days, George was the bass player and singer for the country western band White Lightning Express. He also owned and operated Pokey G’s, a karaoke business. In his spare time, George enjoyed going rabbit and squirrel hunting as well as fishing. He enjoyed being outdoors. He was also a big OSU, Browns and Indians fan. He loved golfing and playing Euchre. George enjoyed sports, whether it was playing softball and volleyball, or watching his grandkids’ games. George played ball with his two sons when they were younger, and it is a cherished memory for them. Most of all, George loved his family and friends. George is survived by his children, Chad Christopher Valentine and Robert Adrian (Jennifer) Valentine, daughters, Katrina Marie McFarland and Kari A. Maniaci, grandchildren, Chad Jr., Joey, Shawn, Austen, Katie, Ryan, Leah, Jessica and Timmy, eight great grandchildren and sister, Lori (Ken III) Shuster. George is preceded in death by his brother, Robert E., sister, Cynthia Albright, grandson Patrick Cornett and his former wife/friend, Kathy Riffee, mother of Chad and Rob, Friends may call at the Timson & Melroy Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M Thursday, March 23, 2023. A Memorial Service will follow at the funeral home at 6:00 with Dr. Daniel Turner officiating.
