Helen Margaret Louise Stevens, age 93 formerly of the Martel area passed away at 8:35 a.m. Sunday July 29th at Morrow County Hospital in Mt. Gilead. Helen was born in Delaware, Ohio on March 8th, 1914 the daughter of the late Lloyd & Lucinda (Meier) Benedict. On April 2nd, 1936 she married George L. Stevens . He preceded her in death on Jan 29th 1998. Helen was a graduate of Ashley High School. She spent the majority of her life making a home for her family and serving her church. She was a member of the Martel United Methodist Church. She loved to cook and took pride in her needlework in her younger days. Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Robert L. & Sue Stevens of Caledonia; her daughter and son-in-law Charlotte & Ken Barden of Hilton Head SC. One grand daughter; Debra Boyer of Ypsilanti, MI. Two great grandchildren; Sarah & Aidan Boyer also in Ypsilanti. Two step grand daughters; Michelle Lear of Galion and Melinda Gibbs of Rutland, Ohio. Three step great grandchildren; Michaell & Derek Garvis of Galion and Zachary Gibbs of Rutland. Her sister Mrs. Thelma M. Price of Cebring, FL also survives her. She was preceded in death by her grandson Robert Stevens. Funeral Services for Helen will be held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday July 31st, 2007 at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia with Pastor Joseph Platt officiating. Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will receive them between the hours of 6 - 9 on Monday.
