Ira E. Frost , age 96 formerly of the Caledonia area passed away on Sunday afternoon January 16th at Heartland of Bucyrus. He was born February 15th, 1914 in Crestline the son of the late Frank & Lydia (Shaffstall) Frost. On March 12th, 1947 he married Mona (Gwinn -Jett) Frost. She preceded him in death July 9th, 1987. Ira was a graduate of Crestline High School, an Army Air Corp veteran of having served in the Glider Corp in North Africa and the Allied Invasion of Europe. He was a faithful member of the Caledonia Memorial United Methodist Church where he sang in the Chancel Choir for many years and a 65 year member of Oliver Lodge #447 F & A. M. in Caledonia. Ira worked in floor coverings at Frank Brothers for 10 years and was the Maintenance Purchasing Agent at Central Soya in Marion for 31 years. Ira and Mona built their own home in Canaan Township, Morrow County and was "Jack of All Trades". He has resided with his daughter and son-in-law Shielda & Jack Ballantyne of Bucyrus for the past several years. Ira is also survived by his grandson Jeff Ballantyne of Edison and his granddaughter Amy Darcy and her husband Troy of Naperville, Illinois and his great grandchildren Hannah and Evan Darcy. He was precede in death by his brother Earl and his sister Ruth Armstrong. Funeral services for Ira will be held Wednesday Jan 19th, 2011 at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia at 1:00 with Rev. Dr. O French Ball officiating. Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Caledonia Memorial United Methodist Church.
