Janice Keirns

Janice Lee Keirns, age 68 of Caledonia, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening November 24th, 2012 in Galion Community Hospital. Janice was born May 14th, 1944 as the daughter of the late Lester Mason and Reta Grace Caldwell - Hipsher. On October 31, 1964 she married Darrell Keirns and he survives her at home. Janice was a 1963 graduate of River Valley High School, attended Beauty College and went on the work for Ruth Weir, Betty Lyon and Shirley's Beauty Shop in the Caledonia area. Janice was always a community minded person. She served as an EMT for 34 years with First Consolidated Emergency Squad, she also served as a Mobile Meals driver and Coordinator for the Caledonia area. She was also a 4-H leader for many years. Janice was a dedicated member of the Caledonia Church of Christ where she assisted Darrell with the Youth Group for over 30 year and was responsible for starting the Dorcas Circle of the church. After she retired from Bus Driving for River Valley Janice was employed as an arranger at Marion Flower Shop. In her free time she enjoyed wood working and sold craft at local shows. Janice was a loving mother whose family always came first. She leaves behind her two sons , Adam (Sarah) Keirns of Galion and Kevin Keirns presently of Wisconsin. She also leaves behind her three grandchildren, Samantha Keirns, Aubrey & Bryson Keirns. Her loss will be keenly felt by her brother Roy Mason of Norwalk and her sister Joan (Paul) Keeran of Prospect. Janice was preceded in death by her son Darrin in 2001 and her step-father Forrest Hipsher. Funeral Services for Janice will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday November 30th, 2012 in The Caledonia Church of Christ with Tony Amerine officiating. Friends may call at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia on Thursday from 5:00 until 9:00. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Caledonia Church of Christ or The First Consolidated Fire District.
