John Kittinger

John Charles Kittinger, Sr. , age 76 of Marion passed away on Thursday at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. John was born December 3rd, 1936 in Akron the son of the late James Todd, Sr. & Berneda (Sullivan) Kittinger. John was the branch manager for Bearings, Inc. in Marion and retired in 1998. He was a veteran of the US Navy. John attended the Caledonia Church of Christ and the Men of Influence Prayer Breakfast, was a member of USS William M. Woods former crew association and a volunteer at Marion General Hospital. He enjoyed gardening, photography, playing computer and card games, fishing in Canada and he loved electronic gadgets. John enjoyed traveling in the Carolinas. On December 15, 1956 he married the former Elizabeth Taylor and she survives in Marion. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son John (Lisa) Kittinger, Jr. of Canal Winchester, three daughters; Laurie (Robert) Pugh of Marion, Colleen Clutter and special friend Mike Holbrook of Marion, and Carol (Chris) Penrode of Whispering Pines, NC, two grandchildren; Kyle L. Clutter and Bobbie Pugh and lots of nieces and nephews.. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his granddaughter Morgan Pugh, one brother and one sister. Funeral services for John will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 21, 2011, at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home with Kenneth Boswell officiating. Burial will follow in the Marion Cemetery with military services conducted by the Marion County United Veterans Council. Friends may call from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
