Kenneth "Ken" Edward Claytor, age 64, passed away on January 11, 2025 at his residence. Ken born on April 13, 1960, in Marion, Ohio as the son of the late Gilbert and Willojean (Foos) Claytor. His educational background included graduating from River Valley High School in the class of 1978, and he subsequently honed his technical skills at the Tri-Rivers Auto Mechanics class. Ken was not just a tradesman; he was a man who took immense pride in his work and his ability to repair vehicles, which he did with both expertise and enthusiasm. He leaves behind a legacy built from his dedication to both his career and his passions. Ken married the love of his life Candace "Candy" Noggle in Clintwood, Virginia March 16th, 1979. They met in their 9th grade Science class and celebrated 45 years of marriage.
Ken's professional journey was marked by many years of hard work and commitment. He spent 26 and a half years at Larry's Auto & Trucking, where his skills and diligence shone brightly. Following this role, he dedicated 15 years to Claytor's Auto and Truck Repair. Beyond these roles, Ken was also a devoted farmer, embracing the rich, fulfilling work that comes with nurturing the land. Ken's dream was to live on the family's homestead, which he achieved in 1999 and was where he passed.
Outside of his professional life, Ken was a man of varied interests and hobbies. Farming was not just a job for him; it was a passion that connected him deeply to the earth and to his sense of purpose. He found joy on snowmobiles, relishing the thrill of winter adventures, and shared a special bond with his dogs, who were important companions throughout his life. Ken had a unique affinity for tractors and farming equipment, often referring to his growing "collection" as his little treasures. Ken also had a love for baking. He had baked over 100 pies for others in the last two years all from scratch with berries and rhubarb from the family farm.
Ken is survived by his sons, Casey (Molly) Claytor and Jeremy Claytor, grandchildren; Carson and Caleb "Rooster", his brother-in-law, Jerry Burch, mother and father-in-law Bob and Dixie Noggle and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and furkid Tank. Ken was preceded in death by his sisters, Judy Nemeth and Pam Burch, and his brother-in-law, Jerry Nemeth.
Ken Edward Claytor will be remembered not only for his hard work and commitment to his craft but also for the warmth, stories, and laughter he brought into the lives of those around him. His presence will be sorely missed, but his legacy will endure in the hearts of his family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made in Ken's memory to Homeless to Home Animal Rescue 1745 Marion-Waldo Rd., Marion, Ohio 43302 or to a no kill animal rescue of your choice. Give your pet's an extra hug tonight.
A Celebration of Life for Ken will be held Sunday February 2nd from 1-3 at the Steve Young Memorial Lodge 24 in Caledonia.
