Michael Dale Martin, 69, of Sister Bay, WI, formerly of Lexington, OH, passed away Thursday morning, December 15, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society – Scandia Village in Sister Bay. He was born July 18, 1953 in Marion, OH, the son of Dale Franklin Martin and Elsie Kathryn (Long) Martin. Mike graduated in 1971 from River Valley High School in Marion, OH. He attended Miami University in Oxford, OH, where he earned a Bachelors degree in education in 1975, and a Masters degree in education, in 1976. Mike was employed as a design engineer with various manufacturing companies in Ohio, retiring in 2016. He married Paige Alison Blietz on July 8, 1989 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, in Highland Park, IL. Mike was a member of the Mid Ohio Bikers Bicycling club in Lexington, OH, and played music throughout his life in old time and bluegrass bands. He played guitar, bass, and mandolin, and was a talented woodworker, building furniture and frequently assisting neighbors with furniture repairs. Mike also loved spending time on the water – kayaking and sailboarding, especially on Kangaroo Lake in Baileys Harbor, WI. He was cared for at Good Samaritan Society Scandia Village in Sister Bay, WI, where he resided for the last 2-1/2 years. Mike will be missed by his wife, Paige, with whom he shared over 33 years of marriage; two children, Mackenzie Martin of New Port Richey, FL and Casey Martin of Mooresville, NC; mother-in-law, Beverly Blietz of Sister Bay, WI; two brothers-in-law, Craig (Kim) Blietz of Sister Bay, WI and Cameron (Annie) Blietz of Salem, OR; and cousins and aunt in Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Elsie Martin; and sister, Marilyn Ann Martin. Mike will be laid to rest in Blossomberg Cemetery in Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek, WI with a private graveside committal in the spring of 2023.
