Ronald Roy Houser

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Ronald Roy Houser on January 24, 2025, at the age of 72. His life was a testament to generosity, hard work, and an unwavering love for family and friends.

Born on January 29, 1952, in Marion, Ohio, as the son of the late Clifford and Hildred Houser, Ron grew up with a passion for learning and a natural talent for fixing anything mechanical. After attending River Valley High School, he pursued his love of cars by working as a mechanic at McDaniels Automotive. Later, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and founded Ron’s Appliance Repair, a successful small business that served hundreds of households in the Marion area. Known for his big heart, Ron often provided services free of charge to those in need, exemplifying his selfless nature.

Ron was a man of many talents and interests. A true tinkerer, he spent countless hours in his garage rebuilding lawnmowers, restoring classic cars, and even inventing practical gadgets like the original remote car starter and the mail alert device. His creativity and ingenuity knew no bounds. Ron’s love for classic cars and bluegrass music brought him immense joy, as did watching old westerns and Star Trek.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Chris Houser; his children, Julie (Chris) Baughman, Amy (Jeff) Parsell, and Jason (Jess) Houser; and his 11 cherished grandchildren, Matt (Miranda) Baughman, Hayden Baughman, Liam (Hannah) Parsell, Emma Parsell, Raegan Parsell, Caleb Brady, Cade Brady, Cora Houser, and Claire Houser. His family will forever remember his steadfast determination, his humor—often shared through practical jokes—and his ability to turn even the most mundane tasks into memorable moments.

“Never put off for tomorrow what could be done today” was a principle Ron lived by. His legacy of hard work, humor, and generosity will inspire those who knew him for generations to come.

Friends may call on Tuesday, January 28th from 5pm to 7pm at CenterPoint Church in Marion. Funeral service for Ron will be held at 11am on January 29, 2025, at the church with Rev. Amy Parsell officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to CenterPoint Church or Heartland Hospice (NHPCO).

Ron’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
