Ronald "Ronnie" Jay Lyon

Ronald "Ronnie" Jay Lyon, age 81, of Caledonia passed away October 28th, 2023 at OSU Hospital after a brief illness. Ronnie was born November 3rd, 1941 in Marion, Ohio as the son of the late Jay and Hazel Mae “Pat” (Murphy) Lyon. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Handschug August 20th, 1959 in Beach Creek, Kentucky and she preceded him in death November 29th, 2001. Ronnie was a graduate of Caledonia High School. Ronnie spent most of his working career as a farmer and a self-employed contractor. He was also a U.S. Rural Postal Carrier for many years. Ronnie was an avid history buff. He enjoyed learning about local Caledonia and surrounding areas’ history. He also loved Civil War History. Ronnie loved helping his friends and family. Family was his priority and his most cherished possession. Ronnie will be missed by his children; Michael (Victoria) Lyon and Pamela (Eric) Holman, grandchildren; Sharon, Nicole, Robert, Austin, Autumn and Wyatt, 9 great grandchildren and brother Tom (Dixie) Lyon. Ronald is preceded in death by his daughter Sherry Edler and sisters Velma “Skeets“ Lyon and Martha “Marney” Lyon. Friends may call from 12-2 P.M. Thursday, November 2nd, 2023 at the Timson & Melroy Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with David Braxton officiating. Graveside service will follow in Caledonia Cemetery.
