CALEDONIA - Ruthella M. Longacre, age 99 of rural Caledonia, Ohio passed away Tuesday evening April 3rd, 2007 in Marion General Hospital. Ruthella was born September 30th, 1907 in Agosta, the daughter of the late Christian D. & Marie (Krautter) Hoffman. On June 22, 1930 in Kirkpatrick she married Allen Longacre. He preceded her in death in June of 1983. She was a 1925 graduate of Caledonia High School and Marion Business College. Prior to her marriage she had worked for George Ackley Realty in Marion. She was also former village clerk for Caledonia and she was employed as a postal clerk for ten years in Caledonia. After moving to the country she raised chickens and sold eggs to help make ends meet. She always enjoyed cooking, ceramics and crocheting lap throws for shut-ins. Ruthella was a member of Vera Chapter # 64 O.E.S. and Pythian sisters in Caledonia. She was treasurer for the Caledonia Church of Christ for over sixty years and had been active as a Sunday School teacher and youth advisor. But most of all she loved her kids. Ruthella is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Phyllis and Bill Disbrow of Edison and her son and daughter-in-law George and Marjorie Longacre of Caledonia . Three Grandchildren and their
Spouses; Tom & Yvonne Longacre of Caledonia, David & Cherrie Martin of Elizabethtown, KY and Sue & David Arter of Westerville
and _Nine_ Great Grand children. She is also survived by her sisters Mercedes Lenning of Milbury, OH and Evelyn Hartpence of Groveport. She was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, her son-in-law Hayes Martin and grand daughter Terry Housekeeper.
Funeral Services for Ruthella will be held at 11:00 A. M. Monday April 7th, 2007 at the Caledonia Church of Christ with Kenneth Boswell officiating. Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home on Sunday between the hours 4 - 4 and 6 - 8.
