Sandra "Sandy" May Hunt

Sandra "Sandy" May Hunt, a cherished mother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this life on June 16, 2025 at Mill Creek in Galion, Ohio, just shy of her 87th birthday. A resident of Galion for over 20 years and formerly of Caledonia, Ohio. Sandy was born June 25th, 1938 in rural Morrow County as the daughter of the late Floyd and Geneva (Melcher) Snell and was raised in Knox County. A proud graduate of the Fredericktown class of 1956, Sandy valued education and the opportunities it presented. Sandy married Ervine "Sonny" Hunt in 1958 and they raised their children in Caledonia.

For many years, Sandy served as a Substitute Cafeteria Cook with the River Valley School District, where she became a beloved figure among students and staff alike. Her commitment to nurturing others extended beyond the kitchen; she had a gift for making those around her feel appreciated and special. Most of all, she cherished being a homemaker and being able to be home to raise her children.

A voracious reader, she delighted in diving into the pages of any book that caught her attention. Sandy loved to be outdoors, and her passion for walking kept her active and connected to nature. Her adventurous spirit led her on many travels, with a particularly memorable trip to Alaska alongside her beloved son, Mike.

Family meant everything to Sandy. She treasured the moments spent with her children, David, Daniel, Keith, Regina, and Michael, and found immense joy in her role as grandmother and great grandmother creating lasting memories with her grandchildren. The warmth of family gatherings filled her heart, and she created a loving environment where everyone felt welcome.

Among her many talents, Sandy had a knack for puzzles and enjoyed the peacefulness of assembling jigsaw puzzles. She also nurtured a beautiful vegetable garden during her time in Caledonia and Galion, which stood as a testament to her nurturing nature and ability to bring life and laughter into every space she occupied.

Sandy's legacy continues through her loving children: David, Keith, Regina and Michael Hunt, her seven grandchildren and multiple great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings—Samuel Snell, Frank Snell, Barbara Logan, Cheryl Furniss, and Janenne Burgett—each of whom will carry fond memories of their time together, even as they mourn the loss of their dear sister.

In addition to her living family members, Sandy is preceded in death by her son, Daniel Hunt, and her brothers and sister—Dale Snell, Darrell Snell, Charles Snell, Gene Snell, and Sevilla Ault. Their memories remain a cherished part of Sandy’s life story and will forever be honored by those she leaves behind.

A visitation for Sandy will take place on June 20, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Timson & Melroy, 407 S. Main Street, Caledonia, OH. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with Pastor Rick officiating. She will be laid to rest in a graveside service in Caledonia Cemetery starting at 3:00 PM.

Sandy's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Her kind spirit will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
