Terry Grover Swisher, a respected man known for his dedication to both his career and his later years as a farmer, passed away on April 26, 2024. Born on November 25, 1941, Terry led a fulfilling life marked by his various roles and passions.
Professionally, Terry retired from Whirlpool in 2006 after years of hard work and commitment. Following his retirement, he found solace and joy in the serene life of a farmer. Tending to the land brought him a sense of peace and purpose in his later years.
Beyond his career, Terry was a man of strong opinions with a deep fondness for his barn cats. His personality was as robust as the crops he nurtured, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In his spare time, Terry enjoyed indulging in hobbies such as spending time with family, collecting coins, and amassing antique toy tractors. These interests added layers to his character, showcasing his varied pursuits outside of work.
Terry's proudest accomplishments included being a member of the Farm Bureau, Marion Agricultural Society, and Columbia Sheep Breeders Association. His dedication to these organizations demonstrated his commitment to the agricultural community that he held dear to his heart.
Terry Grover Swisher was preceded in death by his father John B. Swisher and mother Thelma R. (Staton), as well as his brother Bob Swisher. He is survived by his sons Tim (Jen) Swisher and Todd (Danielle) Swisher, along with grandchildren Caleb (Chelsea) Swisher, Carli (Jake) McCurdy, Kade Swisher, Maddox Swisher, great-grandchildren Lukas, Elliott, Walker, and Brixley.
A visitation will be held to celebrate Terry's life on May 5th, 2024 at the Timson & Melroy Funeral Home from 2PM to 5PM to honor the memory of a beloved father, grandfather, and friend who touched the hearts of many.
Terry's legacy lives on through the memories shared by those who knew him best. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the impact he made during his time on Earth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Terry’s memory to the American Red Cross or the Marion County Agricultural Society.
