Wayne L. Pappert

Wayne L. Pappert, age 83, a cherished member of the Caledonia community, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at his residence. Born on June 10, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as the son of the late William Louis and Catherine Marie (Redlinger) Pappert, Wayne lived a life filled with dedication, passion, and love for his family and friends. Wayne married the love of his life Mary Ellen Paxton November 8th, 1978 and she preceded him in death January 28th, 2021.

Wayne proudly served in the U.S. Army as a PFC with the 590th Transport Unit, 7th Army as a heavy equipment transport operator. He was stationed in Germany during the Cold War. He enlisted Sept. 29th, 1959 and was honorably discharged on Sept. 30, 1965.

For over 25 years, Wayne exemplified hard work and craftsmanship as a tool maker at Marion Power Shovel, followed by 13 years at HPM in Mt. Gilead. His commitment to his career was matched only by his loyalty to his family and friends. Wayne’s legacy will be remembered fondly by many.

A member of the American Legion Worcester Post #401 and Galion Moose Lodge #303, Wayne enjoyed being involved in his community. He was an enthusiastic fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Wayne's interests extended beyond sports; he relished opportunities to play golf and bowl, finding joy in friendly competition. Wayne also loved to tinker around his home and traveled widely throughout the United States, often savoring the thrill of motorcycle off-roading. A dedicated card player, Wayne enjoyed games of Euchre and Dominoes, where laughter and companionship reigned supreme. Wayne loved to eat, especially buffets, and would travel great distances in pursuit of a delicious meal.

Wayne’s warm spirit and joyful heart will be greatly missed by his family, which includes his loving children: Teena (Tony) Pappert, Teresa Roberts, Sabrina (Don) Miracle, Chris (Stephanie) Paxton and David (Cristin) Pappert, 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He rejoins his late son, Bart Pappert, and his siblings, William Pappert and Carol Pater and son-in-law Tade Roberts in eternal rest.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Wayne's life during a visitation on September 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM with Pastor Rick Cox officiating at the Timson & Melroy Funeral Home.
